Programa Pau-brasil

This five-year, comprehensive conservation project for pernambuco was developed for the IPCI by Ceplac, an agricultural and forestry research institute located in Itabuna, Bahia. The program involves a partnership of regional institutions joining forces to carry out inventories and genetic studies, research propagation method, produce seedlings and carry of replanting strategies in both farm and forest locations. Three years in development, the Programa Pau-brasil began in March 2004 with major funding from IPCI-USA, IPCI-Germany and IPCI-Comurnat.
